Amazon will give $1m bonus to 100 content creators each month

Amazon Video Direct
Amazon launched today a new video streaming service called Video Direct, that will compete with YouTube and Netflix!

Amazon’s Video Direct will allow users to upload videos and earn money by selling or renting their videos and of course by displaying ads.

Since I want to create video content for this blog I signed up for Video Direct and found something really interesting there.

Amazon will give $1 million bonuses each month to 100 content creators whose videos had the biggest customer engagement during a month.

Each calendar month Amazon will review the top 100 titles published through Amazon Video Direct and available in Amazon Prime during the month based on global customer engagement and proportionately award a $1 million bonus to the content providers with the highest customer engagement during the month.

Customer engagement is determined by metrics, including, but not limited to, how many people watch, how long they watch and customer ratings. There are no limits on how many of your newly published Amazon Prime titles are eligible. For example, if one of your titles is responsible for 20% of the Top 100 titles customer engagement, that title would earn $200,000. If you have a second newly published Amazon Prime title in the top 100, it would also be eligible to receive a monthly bonus. The final determination of global customer engagement and bonus award amounts for each monthly period will be determined by Amazon, in its sole discretion. Bonuses paid through Amazon Video Direct Stars are separate from the royalties earned otherwise through Amazon Video Direct. Stars payments don’t appear in Amazon Video Direct on the Dashboard page.

Bonuses paid through the Amazon Video Direct Stars program will be determined in U.S. dollars. If you have elected to receive royalty payments in another currency, we will convert the bonus amount to that payment currency at a market exchange rate that we or our bank determine, which will be inclusive of all fees and charges for the conversion.
